Vasque Hiking Shoes Model 7114, The Skywalk
In the mid 80’s, the Vasque Skywalk GTX set the standard for a heavy-duty hiking boot that retained a lightweight feel. The originals were constructed so well and were so popular, you can still find them on the feet of veteran hikers everywhere.
When Vasque pulled these hiking shoes off the market in 2000, outdoor enthusiasts nationwide longed for their return. Given the huge influx of customer support and demand, Vasque decided to bring ’em back!
Today, Vasque utilizes modern techniques, traditional materials and a hyper focus on quality and longevity. The contemporary Skywalk GTX model is constructed from rough-out leather tanned right here in the United States! They tan this quality leather in drums, which takes much longer and yields less leather. However, the improvement in quality Vasque creates with this “old school” approach is undeniable, as evident by the feedback thus far on the Skywalk GTX.
Vasque then marries this traditionally-tanned leather with nylon and GORE-TEX® waterproof-breathable lining, to increase comfort on those long hikes. Nothing can slow you down faster than having to dry out your feet and hiking shoes when on the trail. These breathable nylon sections are strategically positioned to keep your feet cool and dry.
Finally, Vasque then combines the upper with a “Pyrenees” sole, which improves grip under even the most gnarly trails. The Skywalk GTX combines old-school style and new-age technology. This outstanding hiking shoe perfectly embodies the strength of the name Vasque in the hiking world.
